Wrexham Ladies Football Club was formed in 2003 and joined the then newly established North Wales Women's Football League to compete against teams up and down the North Wales Coast. The club was originally made up of players from the North East Wales Institute (NEWI) and Yale College in Wrexham. As of 2009 the club was formally taken under the umbrella of Wrexham Football Club, creating the foundation to move forwards as a club.
Wrexham Ladies play all their home games at Lex XI's Stansty Park.
The club were founder members of the Premier League in 2009, taking part in the four team Northern Conference.
The first season bought little success as the club picked up only one point, in a 2-2 draw away to Aberystwyth. The 2010 season saw some improvement with a mid table finish.
